Join City of Portland Workers on the Picket Line!

AFSCME Local 328 stands in solidarity with our union family at LiUNA 483 (Portland City  Laborers’ Union) in their fight for safer working conditions, livable wages and, above all, respect.

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Portland called these workers heroic and essential, but now they're treating them as an afterthought, despite their sacrifices and the hardships these workers continue to face. The City of Portland has offered no solutions regarding employee safety concerns and has rejected solutions from LiUNA’s safety committee. These workers, who took concessions during COVID to help keep Portland afloat, are now are being told they shouldn't even get a pay increase that acknowledges inflation and the rising cost of living — that they should, in essence, see a pay cut.

The Local 328 membership understands all too well the disrespect that LiUNA 483 members are facing at the hands of their employer, as we have faced it ourselves. We know that the only way to overcome these threats to workers’ livelihood is to stand together in solidarity. AFSCME Local 328 urges the City of Portland to find the means to bargain a contract that meets the needs and demands of these workers. If the City of Portland is unable to so, we encourage our members to join LiUNA 483 members at one of the following picket lines on Thursday, February 2:

  • Wastewater Treatment Plant, 5001 N. Columbia Blvd.

  • Kerby Yard,  2929 N. Kerby Ave.

  • Albina Yard, 3150 N. Mississippi Ave.

  • Tabor Yard, 6437 SE Division St.

Various time slots are available — sign up here.
