AFSCME Convention Goes Virtual
Local 328 recently mailed a postcard to our members about upcoming nominations for the AFSCME International convention being held in August. Nominations were set to open on Monday, March 23, but — as some of you noticed —the nominations link hasn’t been posted.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the AFSCME International executive board has voted to make the convention a virtual one and not hold the on-site gathering in Los Angeles in August. Details about how this will work are currently in development.
Until we have more information, we and other AFSCME locals are holding off on delegate elections. We’ll share details about delegate nominations, the election process and the new convention format as soon as we are able. If you have any questions in the meantime, please email Local 328 president Matt Hilton.
