Solidarity with Our Union Family in Hillsboro

As you may know, workers at OHSU Hillsboro Medical Center are part of Oregon AFSCME. What you may not know is that they’ve been bargaining for their very first contract for many months now. They’re getting down to the final push for a fair contract and are asking for a show of support at their upcoming rally — see below for details. Much like our at own rally later in the month, there’ll be speeches, snacks, music and community support.

HMC is a private-sector employer, so the workers there fall under different labor laws than we do at the rest of OHSU, but they are linked to Local 328. And they’re facing proposals from OHSU that are similar to what we’ve seen, including across-the-board wage increases of only 1.5%, 1.5% and 1.25%. More information can be found here.
