Bargaining Update: May 10

Important Dates:

  • Wear Green on Wednesday! ONA/AURN, the nurses’ union at OHSU, has asked that our members wear green on Wednesday to take department photos with our RN coworkers, for Nurses’ Week. They want OHSU to support all staff who make it possible for nurses to do their job and recognize that they can’t do it without their AFSCME colleagues. So, please wear your green, take photos (and share them with us!) and show OHSU our unity and solidarity this week!

  • May 18 Bargaining Forum: Register here for our next bargaining forum for members to ask questions about outstanding proposals.

  • May 20 Proposal Feedback Drop-in Session: Join members of the bargaining team on campus and let us know which proposals are a priority for you! See the flyer for details.

TAs Reached: We’re pleased to have reached tentative agreements on the following:

  • 12.7.1 Vacation Donation Pool (details here)

  • 28.4 Labor Management Committee Funding (increase LMC funding by 5%)

Discipline-Related Counterproposals: Local 328 made a number of counterproposals to re: coaching, removal of materials from employees’ personnel files, unauthorized absences and notice re: investigatory interviews and OHSU responded to these proposals at the end of the day. There’s likely still quite a bit of back and forth to go on most of this language.

OHSU Counterproposals: OHSU presented another packaged set of counterproposals, this time re: designated union representatives, release time for union officers, steward hours and other matters related to steward-program operations. The management team made additional counterproposals, including:

  • Bargaining-unit data

  • Meal periods

  • Modified operations

  • Termination during probationary period

  • Diversity/equity/inclusion (details here)
