About That OHSU Now Post
By now, many of you have seen OHSU’s post about the budget discussions with AFSCME Local 328. We won’t be responding in detail to rebut the points in the post, since we feel our previous communications are clear and speak for themselves. We do want to gather a few links here in one place, so that the information is easier for folks to find:
We don’t believe that OHSU needs to borrow our pay to make ends meet, and we don’t agree that laying our people off is the only other alternative. It’s ultimately up to OHSU to choose whether to preserve the livelihoods of the front-line employees who make OHSU work. Regardless of OHSU’s post today, our union’s stance hasn’t changed, and we look forward to receiving OHSU’s written counterproposal and a response regarding early retirement and fundraising later today.
