TA vs. Previous Offer Comparison Calculator
We’ve prepared an updated version of our wages-comparison/strike calculator, to assist our members in making their decision in the ratification vote. The Excel file can be downloaded here.
The calculator compares Local 328’s last offer prior to settlement (8%/7%/7% ATBs + $1,500/$750 bonus) and the proposed tentative agreement (7%/5%/5% ATBs + $3,000/$1,500 bonus) — it doesn’t include yearly progression increases or differentials. (It also assumes that employees would receive the previous-offer raises and bonus two pay periods after the ratification vote, which isn’t the case — if the current TA isn’t ratified, ATB raises won’t happen until two pay periods after the membership does ratify a new contract.)
The calculator also shows what members stand to gain (or lose) during a potential strike. With OHSU’s last offer (4%+2%/4%/3%), the potential gains from a strike were much more significant. The employer’s ATB movement this week was significant enough that this is no longer the case for many members, with lower-paid employees now standing to lose money during a strike — this is one of our union’s many reasons for recommending the ratification of this tentative agreement. The dozens and dozens of non-ATB wins in this TA are another reason.
