Summer Training Schedule Heating Up!

In the more than 14 months since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, Oregon AFSCME Council 75 has shifted its training program online. While at first it seemed like this would negatively impact our ability to train members, the opposite has been true — the improved accessibility and convenience of training from home has actually made it much easier. Since the pandemic started, more than 1,000 Oregon AFSCME members, including hundreds of Local 328 members, have accessed some form of online training with our council.

Trainings being offered by Oregon AFSCME in June are:

  • Thursday, June 3, Introductory Steward Training

  • Wednesday, June 9, Bully Bosses and Harassment in the Workplace

  • Thursday, June 10, Investigatory Meetings

  • Thursday, June 17, Filing a Grievance

  • Thursday, June 24, AFSCME Free College Seminar

  • Thursday, June 24, Knowing Your Contract

  • Tuesday, June 29, Student-Loan Forgiveness Clinic

Signing up for one of our trainings is easy! All you have to do is head to the Oregon AFSCME calendar of events, click on a training you are interested in and register. You can also contact our SMART Center if you need assistance.

In addition, Local 328 periodically sponsors registration for our members at various labor-related trainings throughout Oregon. Email our education and training chair for more information.

And, of course, the OHSU/AFSCME Career and Workplace Enhancement Center offers ongoing training opportunities. Virtual classes in June include:

  • Wednesday, June 2, Conflict and Its Management

  • Tuesday, June 15, Succeed with Feedback

  • Tuesday, June 15, How to Get Started on Your Job Search

  • Thursday, June 24, Manage Your Email

Visit the CWE Center website for additional information and to register.
