March 9 Richmond Clinic Solidarity Rally

Members of our union family at the Richmond Clinic are facing a crisis. For years, they have been fighting workplace racism and bigotry and a culture of silencing workers. They have attempted to get OHSU HR and their own clinic leadership to address their concerns. Despite pledges to do so — and despite the Covington report — OHSU has failed to take serious action in the last year. This past month, the managers who should be dealing with these problems are only making them worse, sending out a racist photo to staff and silencing dissent about the effectiveness and content of training.

Due to management’s inaction our union will be holding a solidarity rally at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, at the Richmond Clinic (Cesar Chavez and Division). We need everyone there who is able to stand with these workers. More details can be found on the flyer. If you need a ride, please let us know as soon as possible — we have volunteers coordinating this.

We cannot rely on OHSU leadership to hold managers accountable and change OHSU into the “anti-racist” institution it claims to want to be. We have given them the time to do so at the Richmond Clinic, and they have failed. We must now put public pressure on OHSU to make the necessary changes.

It is imperative that we show our strength for these workers and because bargaining will have started in earnest the day prior. Now is the time to show our union power and stand up for ourselves, our families, and our community! RSVP to the event on our Facebook page.
