Budget Talks Update #3

Local 328 leadership briefly met with OHSU the afternoon of Monday, May 18, starting a process that will begin with formal discussions between OHSU and our union’s COVID-19 impact response team on Friday, May 22. Consequently, the CIRT met on Monday evening to discuss next steps. While OHSU has proposed a letter of agreement in writing, our team is still in the process of reviewing the document and need to clarify some information with OHSU before we share it with our members.

We want to ensure that we’re sharing accurate information and are able to answer your questions about the proposal. It is the opinion of our union that prematurely releasing information related to salaries and layoffs could inflame anxieties and cause unfounded rumors to circulate. Regardless of how these discussions resolve, it is likely that some layoffs will occur in some capacity.

At the time of this writing, our union anticipates sending a detailed email after our Friday meeting, covering the content of OHSU’s proposal and our union’s next steps. We recognize this is a stressful time for all of us, and appreciate your patience with the process.

In order to ensure robust member feedback, we have scheduled several virtual town halls (details TBA):

  • Wednesday, May 27: 7:00 a.m., 12 noon, 5:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m.

  • Thursday, May 28: 7:00 a.m., 12 noon, 7:00 p.m.

  • Friday, May 29: 12 noon, 3:00 p.m.
