Our bargaining team held our first meeting back on Oct. 8, 2021, five months before the start of our weekly bargaining sessions. Since then, we’ve held five full-day trainings, including a virtual session on Tuesday, Jan. 11.
In our most recent training, we conducted a simulation to practice bargaining in a virtual space rather than in person, and we’ve been discussing the unique challenges that negotiating and running a contract campaign during a pandemic will present. We’ve reviewed OHSU’s latest financial reports, have categorized our list of bargaining topics and signed up for topics to work on, and have already begun writing draft proposals and discussing ideas for bargaining communications to our members.
In the coming weeks, the Local 328 bargaining team will participate in at least one group work day and two additional full-day training sessions, as well as continue to work on draft proposals and our communications campaign. Members of our bargaining leadership team will also meet with OHSU next month to exchange proposals to address non-controversial “housekeeping” changes needed in the contract.
Once negotiations start, we’ll email a weekly update to our members and post news and updates to Facebook and here on the blog. In the meantime, please feel free to ask bargaining-related questions in the comments below.
