Attend the HELU Founding Convention
Local 328, along with higher education locals across the country are formalizing their
relationship through the Higher Education Labor United (HELU) with a founding convention May
17 th through 19 th . The convention, which is a hybrid in-person/virtual event will have delegates
from all the member unions attending to ratify the constitution for the organization and lay out
a path forward to make higher education a public good again and make sure that all academic
workers have good working conditions. For more information on HELU check out this previous
blog post. You can register for the convention here.
The convention is open to the public, so any 328 members can log in to attend the whole event
to observe the ratification, attend the keynote addresses in the evenings, or join one of the
national committees on Sunday.
If you are a member in good standing and interested in getting involved with a national
movement to fight for a better system of higher education and support other unions at
universities across the country then reach out to 328’s official HELU delegates:
TJ Acena – acena@ohsu.edu
Evan Bowman - bowmanev@ohsu.edu
There are multiple ways to be involved, from being an official delegate, to helping out with
committees, to attending events to learn from other unionists across the country.
